CJ Hendry in Singapore: Your Complete Guide to Flower Market & JuJu World

Who is CJ Hendry?

Catherine Jenna (CJ) Hendry is a contemporary Australian artist whose claim to fame is her signature hyper-realistic, large-scale artworks of still life objects, created with her self-developed scribbling technique. Based in New York, her practice transforms everyday objects into large-scale spectacles that explore consumer culture, nostalgia, materiality, and perception.

This Singapore run marks her biggest Southeast Asian presentation to date — two back-to-back immersive installations, each with its own character.

Event 1: Flower Market

The Southeast Asian Premiere

Cj Hendry's Flower Market has sparked hours-long queues and captured hearts across New York, Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi, and Sydney. Now, it is Singapore's turn.

The Flower Market installation was first presented in a looming industrial-style greenhouse tent, which housed 100,000 plush-material flowers packed to the brim in crates. Inside, guests could wander through rows of blooms and pick out flowers to build their own bouquets. The online and in-person reception was so well-received that the Flower Market returned to New York in 2025 at Rockefeller Center, and here in Asia, the installation recently debuted at Hong Kong's Central Harbourfront.

What to Expect

Serving to blur the line between illusion and reality, CJ Hendry reimagines the traditional flower market experience on an extraordinary scale, inviting visitors to stroll through arrays of colourful oversized blooms. Expect over 30 flower varieties, including eight Singapore-exclusive blooms — the Papilionanthe Miss Joaquim, Raffles' Pitcher Plant, and Singapore Ginger Flower.

Unlike typical art exhibitions, this one is designed to be interactive — visitors are encouraged to walk around, pick flowers, and build their own bouquet to bring home.

Tickets & Flowers

The exhibition is free to enter and registration is highly recommended. Walk-ins can register on-site and entry is subject to capacity. Registered visitors also get one complimentary flower to start their plushie flower bouquet, with additional flowers starting from $7. The exhibition is self-paced, so you're free to stay as long as you want, with each visit limited to approximately one hour.

Getting There

IMBA Theatre is located within Gardens by the Bay, just a short walk from the Bayfront Plaza area or Bayfront MRT Station Exit B.

Event 2: JuJu World

The Global World Premiere

Once the flower displays are cleared, the gallery space will undergo a transformation to prepare for the global premiere of JuJu World at IMBA Theatre, running from 20 June to 18 July 2026. JuJu World in Singapore will be a ticketed, surreal inflatable experience centered entirely around Hendry's cult-status collectible toy series, JuJu.

Key Details

  • Dates: 20 June – 18 July 2026

  • Venue: IMBA Theatre, Gardens by the Bay

  • Admission: Ticketed (details to be announced closer to opening)

What is JuJu?

JuJu is a quirky bunny-like character that is instantly recognisable by its floppy ears and flower-covered eye. With its soft pastel palette and playful expression, JuJu strikes a balance between cute and eccentric, which has helped it build a devoted following among collectors. Since its debut, JuJu has appeared in a growing range of collectibles, from blind box keychains to special themed releases.

What Makes Singapore's JuJu World Special

Presented exclusively in Singapore from 20 June to 18 July 2026, JuJu World marks the first and only time the experience will appear in yellow anywhere in the world. The installation transforms the gallery into a surreal yellow universe featuring a giant inflatable JuJu, a sea of yellow balls, and immersive play spaces.

Limited, large-sized JuJus will be crafted exclusively for Singapore and will not be available anywhere else once the experience closes on 18 July 2026. Hendry has also designed outfits and hair accessories for the Singapore collectibles, making them exceptionally fashionable.

Tips for Visiting

For Flower Market:

  • Pre-register online — walk-ins are allowed but entry is subject to capacity, and this event drew massive crowds in every previous city.

  • Go early in the morning or on a weekday if possible to avoid queues.

  • Bring cash or a card for extra flowers — the Singapore-exclusive varieties like the Pitcher Plant and Miss Joaquim are only available here.

  • The visit is self-paced but capped at roughly an hour, so plan accordingly.

For JuJu World:

  • Keep an eye on the IMBA Theatre website and CJ Hendry's social channels for ticket release dates.

  • Register your interest on the IMBA website to get early access — early birds are notified first and enjoy exclusive perks when ticket sales open.

  • The Singapore-exclusive large JuJus and yellow colourway items will not be sold after the event ends, so if you're a collector, plan to visit early in the run.

The Bigger Picture

Singapore Tourism Board's Director of Leisure Events noted that these are "bold and imaginative experiences that add to Singapore's growing pipeline of world-class events, reinforcing its position as a compelling destination for arts and culture lovers from around the region and beyond."

CJ Hendry herself summed it up well: "Presenting my works in Southeast Asia with IMBA feels incredibly exciting because these activations represent our shared emotion and universal experiences, from curiosity to adolescence and nostalgia."
